Prospective Cadets

Is Air Force ROTC right for me?

Air Force ROTC is a college program offered at more than 1,100 colleges and universities across the U.S. It prepares you to become an Air Force Officer while earning a college degree. But more than that—it’s a challenge, a head start on a lifetime of success, within the Air Force and in everything you choose to do. You’ll make the most of your college experience. You’ll hone your time-management skills, analytical skills and physical fitness. It won’t be easy. But if you’re up to the challenge, the rewards will last a lifetime.

Detachment 592 is hosted at UNC Charlotte and serves 10 surrounding institutions; you can search connected colleges and universities at afrotc.com, or visit our Crosstown Schools page. We typically have between 80-110 cadets and are considered a medium-sized detachment. This environment is ideal for maintaining a personalized experience while offering a robust training program. UNC Charlotte has a Top 100 Engineering program, an esteemed nursing program, and a multitude of other outstanding programs that you can learn about by clicking the UNC Charlotte logo at the top of this page. If you have questions about the degree requirements for a specific career field in the Air Force, visit AirForce.com.

If you meet the standards found under our Program Requirements page, consider attending our Spring Shadow Day where you can learn more about being a cadet, or contact us to arrange a potential interview to see if Detachment 592 is right for you.
